Keystone Camp
Established in 1916 Keystone Camp offers excellent programs in horsemanship, daily horseback riding, tennis, land sports, water sports and much more!

About Keystone Camp…
Keystone Camp was established in the summer of 1916 by Miss Florence Ellis and Miss Fannie Holt, both from Jacksonville, Florida.  The current Director is Page Ives Lemel, Florence's great-great niece and a fourth generation director at Keystone.  Prior to Page assuming the Director's position, camp was run by her father, William M. Ives and before him, his mother, Catherine Ellis Ives who bought Keystone from Fannie Holt in 1942.  Page grew up at Keystone and spent her summers as a camper, counselor, and Head Counselor.  She became the Director in 1984 after her graduation from Duke University.  Keystone remains the oldest private camp still in existence in the southeast.

What About The Horseback Riding?
Most campers can't wait 'til their riding class, and at Keystone we ride every day! There is no extra charge to campers for our daily riding. Keystone's stable is occupied with horses especially suited for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. We ride forward seat at Keystone and we know that you'll love to learn to post at a trot, canter, and jump your horse. Schooling helmets are furnished by the camp.  For those of you that already own your own helmet, we invite you to bring it to camp with you, provided that it is ASTM, SEI certified. Keystone is one of the few camps that owns most of its own horses. Your favorite horse will be here year after year waiting for you. Keystone's riding instructors are selected on the basis of their experience in teaching forward seat riding.

Arts & Crafts
Come sit for a while in our craft shop. We have so many things you can do here. Pottery made from clay that has been thrown on our potter's wheel and fired in our kiln may turn into mother's birthday present. Perhaps you would like to weave a belt or placemats on one of our looms...and much more!

Archery  & Riflery
If archery is for you, then you will learn the fun of holding the bow and how to make that arrow go straight. All instruction is under the Camp Archery Association Program, so you are certain to learn the correct methods. Your next class may be riflery, which is up a safe distance from camp and carefully supervised by the instructor. For safety, you must first learn the rules, then the care and handling of the rifle, correct firing positions, breathing, sighting, and finally, firing.

Swimming & Canoeing
Our swimming lake has cement on three sides and looks like a pool. Thanks to our pumping system the temperature of the water is between 70 and 80 degrees - the temperature recommended for swimming by the American Red Cross. Time to go up to the swimming lake where the counselors will be qualified American Red Cross Instructors. You will learn different strokes, diving, synchronized swimming, and if you're old enough, you may take your basic rescue or advanced lifesaving tests. Then every day at noon, you have fun at free swim with your buddy. You can dive off the diving board, ride on the inner tubes and slide down the water slide!

Tennis
Ready for tennis, anyone? You bring your racquet and wear tennis shoes because we have five of the finest courts you've ever seen. Quickly drained should it rain, our courts are in almost continuous use.

Keystone has NUMEROUS ADDITIONAL Activities such as Hiking, Rock Climbing, Gymnastics, Drama, Dance, Evening Events and so much more. Campers come from far and near to enjoy the abundance of fun, quality riding instruction and adventures.
