Do you LOVE Horses? by Gay Schuldt at Keystone Camp
Would you LOVE to ride every day?
Would you LOVE to learn all about grooming, tacking, horse & stable management; and have great fun doing all these things?
Then let me tell you about a special place. Keystone Camp is a summer camp for girls in the Blue
Ridge Mountains of Brevard, North Carolina. Horseback Riding is just one of the many exciting activities offered for campers to choose from, but most of the campers choose horseback riding
as their favorite activity.
Every day our girls come to the barn for 45 minutes of riding. Our riding style is Hunt Seat
(English!) Our horses are used year round (during the school year, we teach horseback riding to
local students) - So our guys are ole veterans who are safe and have good attitudes. Horses you can really learn from.
We ride in the ring, take trail rides right here on our mountain property, go on field trips to different horse shows, and play games on horseback, too!
If you wish, you can also choose Horsemanship as a separate activity and learn all about horse things - colors & markings, conformations, first aid, grooming, and tacking, just to name a few!
WE have so-o-o much fun at Keystone Camp. New friends, new activities to try, new
experiences, lots of songs and laughter, and best of all….Horseback Riding Every Day! (except on Sunday, that is, because we do other special things that day.)
Girls have been coming to Keystone for 87 summers now, and riding has been a part of our
program since the 1920’s. ( Of course, we have newer horses now!) Now, we own 22 horses,
and our campers get to see their favorite horse year after year. Keystone is a very special place to spend some time in the summer, and we would love for you to join us!
