Firstly, any diet change can have unpredictable results on your horse, and has potential to lead to health issues including colic. Is It True That Some Essential Oils Can Release “Calming” Properties?
Yes and that is the basis for this product . We have several studies listed on our site, so if you’re into detailed specifics, head there! But the gist of it is that the essential oils contained in our formula each release a unique compound that has calming properties.
For instance, lavender, which is one of the ingredients, contains a compounds called linalool, and linalyl acetate. These, as well as the compounds in the other ingredients, are “anxiolytics,” meaning they work solely on anxiety without causing drowsiness.

Note: It is important to note that some behaviors are pain-based, energy-based, or frustration-based, etc. rather than anxiety-based. For example, a horse with kissing spines who bucks under saddle will likely continue to show some of that behavior when Muzzle Butter: At-Ease is applied. Relaxation, does NOT alleviate physical discomfort due to existing health problems.
