Pam Heintz a British Horse Society Instructor, Instructor & Former Director for the local Dayton Area Pony Club and long-time horse enthusiast and native Daytonian grew up in the small town of Trotwood Ohio (appropriate for a horse lover) just North West of Dayton Ohio.Dayton Ohio, known as the birthplace of invention, has brought the world many pivotal inventions like the airplane, pull-top openers on pop cans, and the folding step ladder, just to name a few. Well, the Inspirational bolt of enlightenment has struck the Dayton area again with the designed and patented Yukon Freedom Fit Horse Blanket!

So How Did The Freedom Fit Horse Blanket Come To Be?

Every year Pam would blanket her show horse in the winter and every year, despite what blanket the horse wore, it would get a spot on the left shoulder were the fur would be rubbed off. Pam, being a creative seamstress, who makes clothing, wedding/prom dresses and even dog coats was determined to create a solution. One day, in the winter of 2016, as she was un-blanketing the horse, “a bolt of inspiration, like lightning hit”. She envisioned a shoulder gusset that would be angled to follow the angle of the horse’s shoulder and a separate piece that looked like a “Y” or yoke over the chest with sliding connection points that would relieve any binding or pressure spots on the horse’s shoulders and chest. After many mock ups, prototypes and manufactures, the patented Yukon Freedom Fit turnout blanket is ready for the market place.

What Sizes Are Available? How Do I Measure?

Sizes: 72, 74, 76, 78, 80, 82 SMALLER OR LARGER SIZES ARE AVAILABLE BY SPECIAL ORDER. WE CAN SPECIAL MAKE A BLANKET AND SEND IT OUT IN ABOUT 14 -16 DAYS!

Measurement should be taken from the center of the horse's chest, along the side of the ribs to the END OF THE BUTTOCKS
For the proper yoke size, measure the horse’s chest, while standing in front of the horse, from THE OUTSIDE EDGE OF one boney, point of shoulder to the THE OUTSIDE EDGE OF THE other .
Yoke Sizes: Narrow Chest (9 - 11"), Regular Chest (12" - 14"), Wide Chest (15" - 17")

Can I Wash My Yukon Blanket?

They can be machine washed HOWEVER it is NOT recommended to use with laundry soap.
LAUNDRY SOAP DEGRADES THE WATERPROOFING! Instead use A SMALL AMOUNT OF hair shampoo on the trouble spot and scrub with a stiff brush.

Replaceable Rear Leg Straps Adjustable, Non-elastic web leg straps allow for easy replacement if needed. However, with no elastic to stretch out or fray, and heavy-duty stainless steel snaps and D rings, these leg straps should last the life of your blanket.

Is It True That Yukon Freedom Fit Has Quick Fit Halter?

So glad you asked! The Yukon Quick Fit Halter™ is ideal for Equine operation where horses are lead to or from the barn to the field or turn out area. Traditional halters and lead ropes can be time consuming to put on and secure properly. Throwing a lead rope around the horse’s neck is not a safe way to lead a horse with a mind of its own. Quickly placed over the head and behind the ears, then secured halter with a pull of the lead rope around the nose. The whole process takes less than 2 seconds. To remove the halter, you just hold the cheek piece and pull forward allowing the halter to slide clear of the ears and muzzle, less than 1 second. Many minutes saved if moving a number of horses several times a day.
