Spalding Labs Presents: Fly Predators™ I've used Fly Predators™ for 32 years and they have done a superb job on my place." says renowned Vet, Dr. Robert Miller (an unpaid endorsement)
Is A Fly Free Summer Possible?
You can enjoy summer without flies and save money too! Spalding Labs has helped keep flies to a minimum without pesticides for hundreds of thousands of horse owners since 1976.
How Easy Is Fly Prevention?
For most horse owners simply releasing Fly Predators® brand beneficial insects during warm weather months is all it takes. They arrive every 3 to 4 weeks and you just sprinkle them near moist manure places. In a few minutes you’ve done your fly control for the month. It’s as simple as opening a sack of potato chips. Fly Predators seek out and destroy pest flies in the pupa (cocoon) stage. This is before they have a chance to hatch and start bugging you and reproducing by the gazillions.
Just What Are Fly Predators?
Fly Predators are nature’s own enemy of all common manure and rotting organic matter breeding pest flies, including the common house fly, horn fly, biting stable fly and lesser house fly. In the natural environment Fly Predators serve as a major check of pest fly populations by destroying the next generation of flies in their immature pupa (cocoon) stage. Fly Predators are tiny, completely biteless and stingless. They never become a pest themselves. Because of their small size and the fact they live their entire life cycle on or near manure (where the pest fly pupa are typically found), Fly Predators go virtually unnoticed.
Are They A Natural Solution To Pest Flies?
As Spalding Labs says, no pesticides, no larvicides, and no worries. Using Fly Predators avoids any potential side effects from pesticides. Just reading the warning label on almost any fly spray is perhaps the best advertisement for natural, organic Fly Predators. Heed those warnings as you want to avoid dosing yourself while spraying your horse. By contrast there is no warning label for the species in Fly Predators and in almost 40 years of commercial use, no known adverse effects. If you make Fly Predators, and perhaps a little picking up, your primary fly control, your need to resort to pesticides can become occasional or even eliminated. Plus your animals will enjoy far fewer flies all the time rather than just after you spray them. Once someone starts using Fly Predators, they’re likely to use them as long as they have their animals.
Are Fly Predators Easy To Use?
Every three to four weeks during warm months you will automatically receive a Fly Predator shipment. After they begin hatching spend a few minutes sprinkling them where flies reproduce. These are places there is (or was) fresh manure or other rotting organic matter like spoiled hay or grass clippings. Just getting close to these areas is good enough since Fly Predators travel 150 feet. Technically all you’re doing is keeping the Fly Predators at a higher than normal population which keeps the flies at a lower than normal population.
Are They Effective For All Kinds of Animals?
Spalding Lab’s satisfied customers include the country’s largest equine facilities down to backyard horse owners as well as dairies, poultry farms, zoos, feedlots, show and rodeo grounds, fairs, and many more.
What Do Spalding Lab’s Customers Say?
Spalding Labs conducts the largest known ongoing fly control satisfaction survey with almost 22,000 responses to date. Of these thousands of customers 87% report; “hardly a fly” (an A), “a few flies” (a B) or “better than before using Fly Predators” (a C) with A’s and B’s being the majority. Considering that Fly Predators were controlling flies over the entire property with a once a month application costing $2 to $4 per horse, what grade would you give your other fly control purchases last year?
“I skipped buying the Fly Predators in summer of 2009 after six years of using them and I was very sorry I did. This year is back to what I expect from Spalding Labs, very few flies and happy boarders!”
— Kay W. Davidson, NC
“I figured that there just weren’t any flies this year until my horseshoer assured me that there were! I haven’t had to put up any traps or use any fly spray! I have only had one fly in my house all summer.”
— Sarah G. Sandy, UT
“Even though we got started late in the season, between the traps I put out and the Fly Predators, I don’t even need to put their fly masks on anymore. Hardly a fly to be seen!”
— Deborah D. Elkton, MD
“I’m very satisfied with the Fly Predators, been using them for 5 years now. Wouldn’t go without them now that I know what a difference they make.”
— Susan T. Colorado Springs, CO
Are Fly Predators Affordable?
For most situations, the Fly Predators per horse listed provide excellent control and they are suitable for other animals too. Varying climates, starting late, neighboring animals or manure management can affect quantities required.
Custom programs for larger operations are available.
