The Trojan Horse Jogging Machine
The Trojan Horse Jogging Machine is the state of the art exercise and rehabilitation unit providing the most efficient exercise program for all types of horses!

About The Trojan Horse Jogging Machineā€¦
The design of The Trojan Horse Jogging Machine is based on several extremely important concepts that apply to the conditioning of any horse:

  • Horses that are on a consistent exercise program feel better mentally and physically.
  • Their metabolism works better.
  • Their mental alertness and focus makes them easier to ride and train.
  • A change in programs relieves the boredom of their regular work.
  • For young horses it is a natural means to become used to forward motion in both directions
  • Reduction in resistance to leading and being tied up
  • Develops coordination
  • Provides an outlet for their normal playfulness which improves their attention span during training
  • Allows for a warm up and cool down period before and after exercise in order to avoid strains, soreness and an increased susceptibility to virus and bacterial infections.

How Is Trojan Horse Different From "Horse Walkers"?
Unlike typical "walkers" which move the horse along at a slow walk, The Trojan Horse Jogging machine is used primarily for exercise at an extended trot, which is the best type of movement in order to produce muscle formation and muscle fitness that is both strong and flexible. This is especially necessary for horses whose work programs require short bursts of speed or jumping which can cause their muscles to become bulky without the necessary flexibility.

Can It Help Endurance Horses?
Yes! The Trojan Horse is a perfect fit for endurance horses that need to be trained to maintain a steady pace over long distances as well as providing a break for endurance riders who need to maintain their own joints and muscles for longevity. The speed and duration of the exercise program can be rigidly controlled in order to provide for the ultimate edge of fitness without fatigue.

Does It Move In One Direction Or Two?
The forward and reverse feature allows for a balance of muscle tone, bone density, ligament and tendon strength and flexibility on both sides of the horse! It removes the weight of a rider and allows the horse to move more freely and naturally, which reduces the possibility of injury while still increasing their fitness level. It allows for the trainer to closely observe their horse in free movement which can reveal hidden injuries, soreness, incorrect shoeing, balance problems, over reaching and a whole range of subtle difficulties that might not be obvious under normal work conditions.

Can It Help Horses Needing Rehabilitation?
Absolutely! The Trojan Horse Jogging Machine provides for the rehabilitation of horses that need a certain level of exercise to stimulate the necessary blood flow necessary for optimal healing without further damage to the injury. This is especially true for bucked shins, bowed tendons, sprains and sore muscles. It can also reduce the amount of filling or stocking up that tends to increase the damage in certain injuries.

How Many Horses Can Be Exercised At Once?
The Trojan Jogging Machine is one of the largest of this kind of exercise equipment available. It is designed to handle 6 horses at the same time and is 80' in diameter with a 250' exercise ring. This is one of the largest available ring circumferences for this type of exercise equipment, which significantly reduces the level of stress on the stifles, knees and hocks that occurs using smaller rings and lounge lines.

Can I Control The Speed?
Yes! There is a variable speed drive located outside the ring that allows the motor to drive the unit from 1 to 10 miles per hour in both directions. It has quick release pins in the event of an accident. The horses are hooked by a halter to the machine using 2 heavy-duty rubber cords with heavy-duty snaps and swivels. These cords are extremely strong and yet provide for enough flexibility that it reduces the possibility of injury and allows the horse to move freely while still maintaining the outer range of the ring. The distance between arms and the absence of additional equipment precludes the possibility of horses kicking one another or making contact with panels and fencing that are part of some other types of exercise units.

Can A Horse Break Loose?
There is little danger of a horse getting loose if secured properly. It also provides for an unrestricted view of the horse at all times for observation by the trainer. The base of the ring can be adapted to the type of surface that best serves the needs of the horse. Layers of sand and heavy shavings can be mixed to produce different levels of conditioning as well as maintaining a loosely packed, well drained surface. A drainage system can also be used to allow for exercising in most weather conditions.

Is The Trojan Horse Jogging Machine Easy To Maintain?
The unit is very low maintenance, requiring a yearly oil change and examination of all parts of the unit for proper operation and possible wear. There are 5 grease fittings that need to be checked and filled on a monthly basis. All parts are metal which are either galvanized or painted to reduce the possibility of rust. Shipping and installation is available as well as detailed instructions for your contractor to provide the concrete pad and electrical installation prior to arrival. There is an operation's manual provided with the Variable Speed Drive with instructions for basic operation as well as various options including setting custom speed and duration cycles.

What Do Customers Say About The Trojan Horse Jogging Machine?
George Wafer , an owner and trainer of race horses in Colorado for 15 years states that he paid for the jogging machine in less than 2 months by eliminating his need for exercise riders who were normally unreliable and couldn't work in winter conditions. He was able to get his experienced racehorses in condition in 60 days and they were able to go to the track and breeze the first week!

Carollyn Hall , a racehorse trainer with 30 years of experience uses the machine as part of her training routine at the track and the farm. She says that it gives the horses a break from their normal activity which improves their attitude and eating habits. It also helps older horses to continue with their racing careers due to the reduced pressure on their joints without the weight of a rider.

Susan Carter of Texas is using the machine at the ranch to get her yearlings ready for the sale ring. She also used the machine at Arapahoe Race Track to give her Quarter Horses that extra level of conditioning that helped them finish strong.
