About Dave And The Walking G Ranch
The Walking G Ranch is literally a dream ranch! As a small boy on a horse farm near Newport, RI, I dreamed of having a horse ranch out West where you could ride the trail for days without hitting a fence.  My dream ranch had beautiful, well-fed horses, cattle and all sorts of animals.  It had lush green pastures, a river to swim and fish in.
 
After leaving home at the age of 16, I made my way West by working on ranches and traveling through all the western states.  On August 16th, 1950, my search finally came to an end in historic Genesee Valley, California.
 
Soon after settling down on this dream ranch, we call the "Walking G", I thought how much I would have enjoyed spending some time on a ranch like this when I was a child.  Watching my own children grow up on the ranch, I knew that we should share this experience with others. In June of 1957, we started the Walking G Ranch Camp with five children for one month.  After 52 years of operating the ranch camp for children, I have decided to offer this enjoyable experience to families and other groups.
 
Walking G Ranch
The Walking G Ranch is located in beautiful Plumas County, California and is the perfect location for weddings, clinics, family reunions or any other celebration! Our ranch is bordered by a national forest and many miles of hiking and trails. The natural beauty of our ranch is well paired with a variety of amenities to make your experience a memorable one.  Here are the features of our facilities:

• Ranch House- Ranch House has three large rooms ("bunk houses") each with separate bathrooms, each bunk house is equipped with bunk beds and mattresses (bring your own sleeping bag, pillow, extra blanket and toiletries articles); Large well equipped kitchen, Wolf range, cooking utensils, etc., four refrigerators, one large chest freezer (bring your own food). Covered screened-in dining porch has seating (everyone gets a window seat) for 30. There are 6 picnic tables in the B.B.Q area just outside the dinning porch.

• Swimming Pool- Kidney shaped pool 20’ x 40’.

• Spring-fed Ponds- The largest pond has a small dock, canoes, and paddleboats.

• River And Lake- There's good swimmin' and fishin' on the ranch in Indian Creek; and good swimmin', fishin' and boating in Antelope Lake just 12 miles up the road!

What Activities And Amenities Are Available?
We offer lots of fun and exciting outdoor activities for you and your party to enjoy! Trail riding (bring your own horse), biking (bring your own bike) hiking, swimming, fishing, (bring your own equipment) companionship, and relaxing with family and friends! Here are some other points of interest to enjoy:

• Genesee Store- (Under 2 miles from the ranch)
  Excellent Lunches and dinners and also groceries, area souvenirs, western hospitality.

• Quincy (30 miles from the ranch)
  Shopping, restaurants, county fair (in August), excellent hospital and doctors.

• Lake Almanor (29 miles from the ranch)
   The Lake offers swimming, fishing, boating and water sports!

How Much Does It Cost To Rent The Walking G Ranch Facility?
At Walking G Ranch, we know that everyone is in the midst of hard economic times, which is why we provide affordable rates so you can still have a beautiful even in the current economic climate. Here are the prices for our Ranch house and surrounding facilities:

• Daily charge $25.00 per person-minimum 15 people or cash equivalent.
• Weekly charge $140.00 per person-minimum 15 people or cash equivalent.

     
We Also Provide Accommodations For Your Horses!

• Accommodations for your horses at $5.00 per horse per day. We have 2 large fenced areas with water troughs and a small barn with 4 stalls with runs. We have quality hay for sale by the bale.

 
You Can Also Stay At Our Camper Site!
Here are the charges for our Camper Site:

• Camper site 10.00 per day
• Horses 5.00 per day

(We have a large fenced area if you wish to turn you horses loose, and a four stall barn with runs if preferred.)
 
There will be water piped to the area and a large clear area with campfire pit (we supply the logs) and picnic tables-bring your own gas powered BBQ. This area joins the Plumas National Forest. Ride your horses out our back gate on to many miles of beautiful mountain trails.
