We specialize in oilskin garments.  Oilskin is an amazing material.  It originated when sailors found that waxed sailcloth could be used to make sturdy, weatherproof coats and capes.  Ringers (cowboys) in Australia found that oilskin makes the ideal riding coat.  It is made from a tightly woven, heavy weight cotton material, which is impregnated with an oil/wax mixture.  This produces a garment that is very tough, very water proof, and yet is still breathable.  It keeps out the wind, rain, and snow while letting perspiration evaporate – sort of like a natural gore-tex ®.  We use a special 50/50 oil/wax mixture to create oilskin that works well in cold weather as well as warm weather.  Our coats are made from heavyweight 12 ounce or 16 ounce oilskin (depending on the model) creating a garment that will last.  And don’t forget your head!  A matching oilskin hat looks great with our coats and will keep your head just as dry as the rest of you. A lightweight slicker is easy to pack, but if you are riding in any kind of rough terrain a slicker gets torn up pretty easily.  You need something that will stand up to branches and rocks, while keeping you dry and comfortable at the same time.  Our heavy-duty oilskin and canvas coats are made to do just that.  In addition, they are full of features designed just for riders.  The sleeves are cut long so that they will still cover your wrists while you are holding reins.  The cut is generous for freedom of movement and so that you can layer clothing underneath for warmth.  The snap out saddle gusset at the back will drape over the cantle of your saddle, keeping everything dry.  Leg straps on the full-length models keep the coat from flapping around in the wind.  Cargo pockets keep your gear handy, and they have hand warmer pockets behind them.  Zippered inside pockets keep your wallet or cell phone safe.  We have several styles, and carry sizes from XXS to 6XL, plus children’s sizes, so we are sure to have the right coat for you!
